💙 Sonic Masala 2023 💙

One of the BIGGEST and BESTEST days for live music is lined up for August 12th at The Triffid!

For 10 years, Sonic Masala Festival has been an epic day to celebrate all the things we love about our community, and we can’t wait to party with all our favourite people; YOU!

Get behind;

4ZZZ | Sonic Sherpa | Philter | Season Three Instruments | Brisbane Drums | The Triffid, Sonic Masala | Zang Records

Presents Sonic Masala Fest 2023

This year's scintillating lineup is a compilation of some exciting new acts and the bands that have been along for the journey such as;

Andrew Tuttle | Dancing Water | Deafcult | Greg Charles & The Ex-Catholics | The Holy Rollercoasters | Locust Revival | Naaki Soul | Placement (SA) | Plainer | Queerbait | Smallest Horse | STAN | The Stress of Leisure | Summer Flake (VIC) | Terra Pines | Velociraptor | Vintage Crop (VIC) | Whalehouse

All are welcome, including underage punters and four-legged friends (who are welcome in the Beer Garden on a leash all day).

Proceeds from the day go to keeping 4ZZZ Radio independent & live since 1975!

Pre-sale tickets go into the draw to win a $100 Sonic Sherpa voucher as well as a drum skin featuring this year's artwork.

We will also be repaving the Road to Sonic Masala at The Triffid Beer Garden each month starting in May to build excitement with some awesome curated lineups featuring the likes of;

Ben Ely’s Mungo Fungo Band | The Trams, Socket | Hot Magnets | Grace Pashley | Shugorei | Edith Thomas Furey | Spring Hill Walkers Club | Magic City Counterpoint | and more

2023's artwork is a retrospective of all the brilliant characters created by Phoebe Paradise over the years with compiling and arranging by Angela Cosic.

SMF is taking place on Turrbal and Jagera country. We respectfully acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, recognise sovereignty, were never ceded, and pay respects to elders past and present.

👩‍🎓 Griffith Community Pride Week 👩‍🎓

This week some of our amazing volunteers attended Griffith University for their Community Pride Week. If you happened to be at Griffith's Nathan Campus on Wednesday, you might have been lucky enough to chat with either; Sev, Kitty, Liz, Chris, or Tristan.

We love spending time at universities; after all 4ZZZ began in a UQ university basement with students being some of the original community radio pioneers back in the mid 70s.

Here is a photo of Sev (from Tranzmission), Kitty, and Liz Witt (from Art Cart) in the merch stand.

📻 AOTW | Square - Introducing 🔳

From the AOTW Committee - "Ever since Square played on Right Here Right Now last year, the local quartet have been bouncing their way into more 4ZZZ playlists. This opening salvo 'Introducing' is hopefully a taste of bigger things to come for the post punk outfit. Once you've witnessed the band play live you can't help but imagine tracks such as 'Into Me' or recent single 'Repetition' without the highly energetic frontman Tom Czerwinski flailing their limbs around in abandon. Four-pieces with a sole lead singer used to be a thing too (think The Smiths, The Stone Roses etc etc), so it hits in all the right ways. Great new local music keeps being released, and we like playing it."
