πŸŽƒ EVIL ZED | THIS WEEKEND πŸŽƒ

Halloween in Meanjin.. It's that special time of the year when the veil between the subcultures is at its thinnest... and the line between punk and metal, and techno and drum’n'bass is blurred.

What mutant sounds shall be created from this unholy mix-up!?

The Evil Zed is a 4ZZZ fundraising party that beckons to the unknowns and celebrates the extremes. With 11 bands, 14 DJs/Producers, 2 stages and 13 hours of underground sounds. It kicks off at 2pm and cranks all the way past the witching hour to 3am - The EVIL ZED really is a party unlike any other.

πŸ“° Grace Nakamura | Journalism Excellence πŸ“°

Congratulations to one of our own! Grace Nakamura, one of our Zed Liners from earlier in the year, has just recently won ‘Most Outstanding Final Year Journalism Student’ by MEAA.

Judges’ comments: The judges were highly impressed with the quality of Grace’s work as a student journalist. The stories submitted showed a readiness to step into the workforce as a reporter. The importance of local journalism was highlighted through this body of work, with both excellent written and broadcast skills on show.

Grace was also nominated for a Walkley Award earlier in the year and as a result she was featured in an article from The University of Queensland and was asked if she had any advice for future journalism students.

Grace said, “I would advise future journalism students to take any opportunity with both hands. Especially while you’re studying, the best thing you can do is to build up a portfolio and get to know people in the industry. Go to JACS events, introduce yourself to your tutors, write freelance articles or get into community journalism like 4zzz radio.”
