This week’s Zed Letter is rather slim but do not be misled in thinking that there’s nothing going on at Zed HQ because we are less than a month out from the most important time of the year… RADIOTHON.

There is rumbling in the groundstatic in the airones and zeros everywhereWhat is real and what is simulation…?

RADIOTHON 2023 | August 11th - 20th

๐Ÿ  We love you ๐Ÿ

Have you always wanted to see inside the famous home of 4ZZZ? Well over 150 of you DID!

Straight up a massive thank you to those who came to visit our beautiful radio home. As announcers, it can sometimes feel like routine, week in and week out, however, it's events like this where we open the doors for folk to come and share in the wonder of community radio that's what reminds us - how important this work is for communities all over the city, not to mention sharing in the joy and intrigue on your faces as you moved through our triple zed universe that makes every second worthwhile.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Here are some photo highlights from the day.

๐Ÿค  Salty Volunteer Coordinator ๐Ÿค

This wonderful human Salty is not only 4ZZZ’s Rhinestone Cowgirl delighting your ears with weekly doses of both kinds of music - country AND western. She’s also our one and only Volunteer Coordinator, recently we were able to secure a grant to get her paid for all the tireless work she does.

Salty has volunteered for many years dedicating so much of her time and energy to making sure all our zed heads are well looked after, whether that be from their first day doing an induction or finding volunteers new roles around the station that could be in our production department, music department, newsrooms, or even getting involved with live events.

Recently she coordinated all the helpers for our Brisbane Open House and honestly my personal highlight was seeing her beaming all day. So hats off to 4ZZZ’s sweetheart, Salty.

You can also listen to The Rhinestone Cowgirl every Tuesday from 1pm-3pm on 102.1FM and you can listen to her ANYTIME right here.

๐Ÿ‘พ QLD Games Festival | Zed Games ๐Ÿ‘พ

This Saturday, 22nd of July, from 10am - 5pm at Brisbane Powerhouse is QLD Games Festival, a completely FREE games exhibition!

Queensland Games Festival (formally known as the Game On Festival) has been a community celebration of Queensland-made games for over ten years!

The festival is a chance to discover the rich creativity of our local game-making industry: With some of the world’s most played games coming out of Brisbane and south east Queensland, the local game-making industry is an integral part of our community. This one-day event will allow you to participate in hands-on workshops, play locally-made games, chat with developers, and discover more about the folks leading this important creative industry.

Get to know the people who make the games as they share their stories, ideas and ambitions and chat about the process of game development.

A Game Dev Hot Seat will be running on-stage throughout the day, presented by 4ZZZ's very own Zed Games!

๐ŸฅAOTW | Glitoris - Glitoris๐Ÿฅ

From the AOTW Committee - "Over the past 5 years Canberra band Glitoris have gradually built a loyal following in and around Meanjin. Touring with local faves Regurgitator and playing Punkfest all contributed to this steady rise. 4ZZZ announcers have also gotten on board, the song 'Lickety Split' already in constant rotation. We expect this eponymous second album from the band will move the dial even further."

๐Ÿฅ TOP 20 | July 8th - July 15th ๐Ÿฅ
