Welcome to 4ZZZ’s weekly newsletter for announcers and volunteers.

It can be difficult to keep on top of all of the missives that 4ZZZ HQ disseminates week to week, so in the interest of keeping your inboxes under control and our messaging clear, we’ll be doing our darndest to compile all of our comms into one weekly mailout.

Obviously there will be exceptions from time to time, but consider The Newsletter Formerly Known As your Monday afternoon treat (named so because we expect you to be able to  regurgitate the information herein).

Hello Creative Communicators,

Already a week into 2024, pat yourselves on the back.

Some people use the new year to try new things or hobbies so whatever you are getting into (or not) I hope it’s going well.

If I get a bit of time to myself I am trying to do more crosswords, not necessarily a great new skill, but damn if it isn’t fun.

Not a lot else to report this week but I am enjoying the sounds, the connection with community and sub plugs which I am hearing consistently on air.

Also, a lot of shows giving a nod to the Hot 100 which is wonderful, if you are wanting to incorporate the new 2023 Countdown into your shows it is available with the previous countdowns on the database (thanks again to Kate!)

Stay Hydrated,
Jack

Catch of the Week: Reunions on Know Idea/Eco Radio

It was a hazy week between public holidays which is great for Zed Show Reunions when people are back in town.

It was great to see Gabe and Peta from Know Idea fame back in the studio.

They usually dazzle us with science over the remote studio but it was a treat to hear them live in the studio and having a blast.

They had so much fun they kicked on with the Eco Radio crew after and I for one loved it.

Sub Plug of the Week: Talking Zeds

On Talking Zeds this week Heather and Kirstyn had such a blast and I felt like I was just hanging out with them at a party.

These two longtime 4ZZZ vollies originally were announcers on Megaherzzz and on the show played a summer special of favourite tunes from 2023.

Heather reminded people that they could start their year with a subscription before Kirstyn gave them a rundown of the prices and the benefits
including warm inner glow.

Excellent work team!

What's On? RH/RN and Talking Zeds

A couple of things to look out for if you’re keen this week. On Right Here, Right Now our in house live music program fhae will be performing in Studio 3 tomorrow night. fhae creates soundscapes of ambient guitar and interwoven vocals which are pretty entrancing. fhae’s third album ‘she lives within me’ was released in October of 2023.

Also, an absolute heavy hitter on Talking Zeds this week. Ian Powne has not stopped talking about how Spiral Stairs, one of the founding members of Pavement will be in this Thursday being interviewed by renowned Pavement expert and local legend Steve Bell.
Very much looking forward to this one.
It will definitely Brighten Your Corners….get it?

Emergency Exit Procedure for New Door

So, just in case you haven’t noticed we have a new front door at reception.
This was done thanks to a lot of generosity and goodwill and we will talk more about that in later weeks.

The door after reception hours should always be in the ‘Locked’ mode.

Outside of those hours in case of an emergency you just need to press the 'Exit' button and it will open.
As a note, if you do leave and the door closes you will not be able to re-enter the building so if you need to keep it open for some reason place something in the way to stop it fully closing.
Feel free to get in contact if you have any questions.
