Welcome to 4ZZZ’s weekly newsletter for announcers and volunteers.

It can be difficult to keep on top of all of the missives that 4ZZZ HQ disseminates week to week, so in the interest of keeping your inboxes under control and our messaging clear, we’ll be doing our darndest to compile all of our comms into one weekly mailout.

Obviously there will be exceptions from time to time, but consider The Newsletter Formerly Known As your Monday afternoon treat (named so because we expect you to be able to  regurgitate the information herein).

What's up legends!

Hope the week is been good and your enjoying a mild sweat in this weather ahead of the deep sweats that will come in the next few months.

That's enough about you, though, this is what's happpening at the station. We've got a few things we'd love your help with in here. There's a final Evil Zed vollie callout (free tickets!), an accessibility doc to see what we can make better and the annual vollie survey.

Most importantly though, we're doing zed family photo day on November 2nd, next Thursday! Read on for those deets.

We've also got the AGM coming up in three weeks, so make sure you check your email for that notice. If you've got any questions about that please let me know. All subscribers get to vote for who they think will best oversee the running of the station, so it's a wonderfully democratic process.

That's it. As always, get in touch if you need things. I'm still with you for a couple more months.

Catch of the Week - Tranzmission

Sev did a wonderful job hosting Tranzmission last week and started the show with such a powerful chat.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the news (don’t blame you tbh), the UK is being really shit to trans people at the moment. Sev gave an update on what was happening and then spoke really eloquently, through tears, about how the calls to pull healthcare for trans kids from the NHS had affected him.

It’s commentary and honestly like this that makes what we do so important. There’s very few other places where these conversations are led by the people who are directly affected by them. Thank you all for being a part of this.

You can catch up on the show on the OnDemand right here, or search Tranzmission in your fave podcast app and get it there. There was some outstanding music throughout the show as well (I’ve had that Laura Jane Grace song stuck in my head all week), so it’s well worth checking out.

Sub Plug of the Week - Indigi Briz

I’m going back a week for this one because I missed it the first time around (thanks for reminding me, Justine!). Coen had an awesome pitch during Indigi Briz last weekend.

Campbell, a non-sub, had been texting in requesting songs and Coen took that as a great in to talk up subscribing. Q was in the studio too, so he ran through the prices and gave the deets for how to seal the deal (go to the website!).

The best part about this was the Coen knew Campbell, which meant he was able to give some great commentary about their life (I hope Campbell ended up subscribing the teddy bear he sleeps with every night).

Jump into this link, at about 40 minutes in, to listen back.

Keep the sub plugs coming. I’ve heard some great ones this week. We’re pretty close to matching the subs we got in October last year, so if we keep it up we’ll at least be breaking even.

Album of the Week - Sunny Luwe with Flowers in the Sky

We’ve got Sunny Luwe taking out our Album of the Week this week, which is a real delight!

Here’s the skinny from the AotW committee: "Sunny Luwe is no stranger to 4ZZZ, having recently performed on Right Here Right Now just the other week and earlier this year at our First Nations Carpark Show. It's great to hear the latest album 'Flowers In The Sky' getting some play on the Zeds too. Enjoy this slice of summery pop, and ahem... kisses."

House Keys 2 keeps dominating the most played new releases, taking out the number one spot again. Porpoise Spit got real close, but couldn’t beat them, taking out number 2. The Blankettes have settled into third with their new single.

Last Chance Evil Zed Vollie callout

It’s this weekend! One of our biggest gigs of the year is just a few days away.

We still need door ambassadors for this one, so if you’re free on Saturday night and want a free ticket to Evil Zed, jump into this form or email me directly and we’ll get you on the roster.

If you’re not keen on helping out but just want to come along, grab your tickets here.

Zed Family Photo Day

We’re getting out photos taken!
On the 2nd of November we’re going to have a photographer set up in Studio 3 from 1-3pm taking photos.

No need to do anything outside of rock up to the station during this window if you’re keen to get your picture taken.

These can be used for whatever, but ideally you can use them for your show pages and any socials you’ve got going. It’ll be also awesome for us to help promote the awesome work you do!

I reckon we might end up getting some snacks to make a bit of an arvo gathering of it.

Improving Accessibility at Zed

As you know, we’re working towards making 4ZZZ more accessible. We’d love your help to do more though, so to get your ideas Salty has flicked around a survey to you all.

To make sure you don’t miss it, I’m sharing it here again. Get in and do it - THE LINK.

This isn’t just about physical changes, it’s about little things we can do around the place to make it easier for you to navigate. Jump in and give us your thoughts.

If you’ve got any questions about this or don’t fancy filling out the form, you can also email me or Salty - salty@4zzz.org.au - with anything.

Vollie Survey

The vollie survey is still going, but only for another week or so.

This is your chance to tell me what you think. You can be anonymous if you want (lots of people already have been). There’s already been some really useful feedback in there that will lead me to making a couple of changes before I head off.

Please jump in if you haven’t already. The link is right here.

Thanks for playing along! If you have any big interviews, noteworthy subs shoutouts or particularly heroic volunteering work that deserves a shout out, let me know by emailing manager@4zzz.org.au by 2pm Mondays. Got any burning questions about the studio, station policy or other FAQs? Check the 4ZZZ Wiki out, if accessing from outside of the station use the following loging credentials: zeduser / 4zzzrules. Have a great week connecting and amplifying the voices of our local communities!
