Welcome to 4ZZZ’s weekly newsletter for announcers and volunteers.

It can be difficult to keep on top of all of the missives that 4ZZZ HQ disseminates week to week, so in the interest of keeping your inboxes under control and our messaging clear, we’ll be doing our darndest to compile all of our comms into one weekly mailout.

Obviously there will be exceptions from time to time, but consider The Newsletter Formerly Known As your Monday afternoon treat (named so because we expect you to be able to  regurgitate the information herein).

Happy Monday! Hopefully we're in for a slightly cooler week this week than we were up against last week. This isn't just for my comfort in the level 3 4ZZZ sauna, but also for our aircon which struggled a bit last week (more on that below).

Pat is back this week, so if something goes wrong you're able to call him for a hand. Shoutout to Ben Ryan for holding the tech fort over the last couple of weeks.

There's lots going on, so read on for the latest news around zed. If you've got any questions or want a hand with anything, please sing out. Always happy to help where I can, or point you towards whoever can.

Stay free,
Stocky

Catch of the Week - Know Idea family reunion

We had the whole Know Idea family in the studio last week, which was a treat!

Listening to the show most weeks, you might not realise that Gabe comes through the remote studio while Peta files stories from out of town too, so having everyone together is a very special occasion.

The gathering isn’t the only reason for celebration, the show was also a ripper. There was some great chat about the missing radioactive pea in WA, news on AI science and Jay being underwhelmed by space travel.

Def go back and check the show out.

Sub Plug of the Week - Happy Hour

Some demo text, with a link that goes somewhere. I'm going to pad it out a bit, because we'd want to do that anyway.. it's pretty great. Right?

And another section with some bold text.

Album of the Week - Spice World - There's no I in Spice World

Album of the Week has returned for 2023 as we cast our ears to the west for Spice World’s latest release, There’s no I in spice world.

That’s a really positive message from the Perth-based band. It helps that the album sounds pretty neat too. Jump into the Music Database to have a listen once you’ve absorbed these words from the AotW committee.

“We rarely feature W.A. artists but Fremantle's Spice World thoroughly excited our senses in January with singles such as 'Friend Of Mine'. Their debut album 'There's No I in Spice World' is delightfully droll Australian jangle pop, and is exactly the quality of content we've come to expect from one time Brissie label Tenth Court Records. Our community radio friends in Perth RTRFM have already featured this album, giving it their tick of approval. We follow suit! And well, slam it to the left if you're having a good time listening to this?"

The return of the Album of the Week means I’ve now got room to highlight the most played tracks of the week. Our most played of the last week was Baby Cool with Earthling on the Road to Self Love, followed by Charlie Needs Braces and Ghost Mutt. Tune into the Chart Show on Friday (or check out socials on Friday) for the full rundown.
