Welcome to 4ZZZ’s weekly newsletter for announcers and volunteers.
It can be difficult to keep on top of all of the missives that 4ZZZ HQ disseminates week to week, so in the interest of keeping your inboxes under control and our messaging clear, we’ll be doing our darndest to compile all of our comms into one weekly mailout.
Obviously there will be exceptions from time to time, but consider The Newsletter Formerly Known As your Monday afternoon treat (named so because we expect you to be able to
regurgitate the information herein).
Hello Hilarious Humans,
Hope you are all keeping well and taking care of yourselves.
Another cracking week at Zed Towers and I will let you know following last week’s email not a single person subscribed a groundhog.
There were however vigorous discussions on Wildcard this morning discussing rabbits eating a boat so I guess I will make do with what I have.
Also, a shoutout to the Ballzzz In The Air team who not only interviewed some great hockey players this week but after the interview gave them a tour and convinced them to subscribe! What a result!
A few things happening around the Zeds this week so read below for the details.
Catch of the Week: The Pineapple Rebellion take on public transport.
Going to give a shout out to The Pineapple Rebellion’s coverage of the public transport debate that is going on in council politics.
Alexis broke down the various plans and spoke with representatives from the major parties about their plans and how they differ.
A great report about a major issue in our city so check it out before the elections this Saturday.
Sub Plug of the Week: RandomiZZZed
Not for the faint of heart but in terms of segues this would have to be one of the neatest but also most confusing. Kitten and Daria were on air for RandomiZZZed and Kitten explained how they once were involved in taxidermying a rat. They somehow in a triple backflip with a twist type manoeuvre turned this into a segue talking about pets and how you can subscribe them. Kitten mentioned how there is knowledge all over 4ZZZ and you should support that knowledge by subscribing. A very interesting sub plug, they come in a variety of different ways.
RHRN and The Charts
Tomorrow on RHRN Jungaji will be hitting the airwaves. Jungaji (is a First Nations Gu Gu Yalanji songman, visual artist, playwright, and activist hailing from Australia. He has embarked on a new creative path, fusing RnB/Soul to create a unique and authentic sound that showcases his cultural roots. Looking forward to hear the sounds out of Studio 3 tomorrow.
In the charts Metdog took out number 1 with the support of the Album of the Week. Local loud ones Radium Dolls came in second with their single ‘Hit Song’ and another local legend Emily Wurramara came in third with ‘Magic Woman Dancing’. Stats Wizard Nick tells me there are 8 new entries this week, how amazing.
AOTW: Lord Esme - 'A Nice Sit Down'
From the AOTW Committee - "Legendary Sydney label Half A Cow have been putting out memorable records for over several decades now from Smudge to The Hummingbirds to Kim Salmon. Their most recent find, Lord Esme, are self professed purveyors of scone-rock, or rather cardigan pop. 'A Nice Sit Down' is jangly and sweet in all the right places, but also hints at that playful band community spirit we love at 4ZZZ. Enjoy a cold shandy whilst enjoying tunes such as 'Alison Rhodes' and 'Shane Warne'. And please, have a nice seat." Lord Esme are a four-piece Sydney pop band making a name for themselves with their eclectic sound and playful approach to music. Mixing pop, rock, and folk influences, their music is filled with humour, heart, and a love of shandies and cardigans.
