👋 Farewell Stocky 👋

It’s a bittersweet farewell to our beloved Station Manager Stephen (Stocky) Stockwell and welcomes young gun Jack McDonnell into the role. This week is Stocky’s last and I have so much to thank him for. Just writing this makes me emotional so I’ll keep it short, just like his sleeves.

Stephen has done an incredible job of harnessing the 4ZZZ spirit and using that to further our reach, our influence, our on air broadcasts, not to mention his wit, charm, and well of knowledge. I feel honoured to have worked with such an influential force and I know wherever he goes will be better off for having him.

On behalf of the 4ZZZ community we thank you deeply for all the blood, sweat, and tears that comes with nurturing a community as complex as ours. Thank you, thank you, thank you 👏

Stocky wanted to say, ‘Thank you, dear listener for supporting 4ZZZ, all the credit goes to the volunteers who make 4ZZZ happen, to the staff for all their hard work and if it wasn’t for all of them 4ZZZ would simply not be here. I look forward to what the future holds.’

🎨 Let Griffith Uni Know How Much You Value Their Art Museum! 🎨

The Defend GUAM student collective is calling on everyone who cares about art and artists’ opportunities for experiencing and exhibiting it to rally behind the Griffith University Art Museum (GUAM). As you may have heard, GUAM's future currently hangs in the balance.

Yesterday’s student-led protest at the Griffith University Art Museum made quite a statement but there is still time to show your support: Sign the Defend GUAM Petition (closing TODAY!) and email Griffith University’s leadership to let them know we stand united to #DefendGUAM.

Please don’t put this off; ensure your voice is heard before the feedback cutoff TOMORROW, Friday December 15th. Please send submissions to guamfeedback@griffith.edu.au and pvcael@griffith.edu.au by tomorrow’s cutoff to let them know we DO NOT support shutting down a space that exhibits & holds our city’s 2nd largest art collection (maintained since 1973).

Let's safeguard GUAM's legacy as a bastion of art, research, and education.
Together, we can make a difference!

❓ Zed Trivia | Hot 100 VS Hottest 100 History ❓

In 1988, 2JJJ in Sydney conducted its own Hot 100. With many ex-Zed staff working there, it was understandable that the idea would travel, but when Triple J went national it became a problem. 4ZZZ held the rights to the name "Hot 100", and after a small legal scuffle, the Js began their "Hottest 100", though given their early 90's lists looked much like a Triple Zed Hot 100 from five years before, any question of relative heat seemed clear cut to us.

Anita Greenhill said, “We immediately challenged them on their adopting Our whole Hot 100 concept in such a blatant rip off from Zed. We had a number of meetings and more communications and they conceded to not broadcast on the New Year's Day slot and converted the name to the Hottest 100.”
