๐Ÿฅ AOTW | House Keys 2 ๐Ÿฅ

From the AOTW Committee - "In September 2022, 4000 Records released a compilation album of cover songs entitled House Keys, intended to be a one-off collection of tracks by southeast QLD artists covering other local artists. The response to that album was such that it incited label founder John Russell to commence work on a second edition of the compilation immediately. Here we are a year late, with 32 tracks in the bag, an exceptionally gorgeously designed double CD and a beautiful companion zine all ready to do. The zine, simply (and very likely confusingly) entitled House Keys, features 32 contributions from 32 southeast QLD visual artists across various disciplines: photography, painting, digital and more. Local artist George Levi has curated a fantastic stable of visual artists, and they contributed the main cover artwork and designed the CD and zine layouts."

โ“ Zed Trivia | One Brick At A Time โ“

Before triple Z went to air in 1975 volunteers and community members helped create our very first home at UQ. Part of that journey meant literally building out the space.

Kevin Hayes, “I was an architecture student at the time. At the beginning of ‘75, I was thinking of leaving the course. I ran into Steve Gray at Uni. and he said why don’t you come and build this radio station. I left and became a builder - I’d done a little bit of building and 4 years of  architecture. In those days you didn’t need a licence, you just said you were a builder and that was it. So we got this space upstairs in the Student Union building, which had been the Union offices, for their officials, and somehow we’d convinced them that the radio station should be there. We stripped it all out, all the partitions, and then we started talking about what we would need to make it soundproof. We were making it up as we went along, with no plans.”

If you’d like some more Zed Trivia why don’t you listen to the 4ZZZ Podcast - From A to Triple Z

That's all for this week, be sure to check your inbox next week for the next instalment of Zedletter!
