😈 Evil Zed Update 😈

An update from 4ZZZ legend and a Evil Zed organiser Sam Kretschman AKA DJ SLK.

“We have the numbers and can tell you that together we made almost

😈 $13,000! πŸ˜ˆ

for our community station 4ZZZ! BIG thank you for all coming along, raving or rocking hard!

It ain't no party without THE PEOPLE!! So a massive thanks to all the bands and DJs for playing for FREE! Thanks to Young Henrys for the support, the Greaser venue and their staff for getting behind the event, the taste makers who helped pick bands, the photographers, the people who did some promotion online or stuck up a poster, announcers who played the bands on the radio, staff at Zed for trusting me and helping it all come together and last but certainly not least - the volunteers who helped out at the event!

Things like this don’t ‘just happen’ it involves lots of careful planning and hard physical work to go into making something this fun. It’s a multi-genre party that shouldn't happen here BUT IT DOES! Stick the date in your calendar for next year and stay evil πŸ˜‰”

πŸ’— Trans Day of Remembrance πŸ’—

This week on Queer Radio joining Brody in the studio for a special Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) commemorative episode was Lu from Generation ZZZ, former Queer Radio co-host Ada (aka "Evita"!), as well as special guest Esther Doherty chatting about their show "Small Paul's Best Friends" at this year's Wynnum Fringe AND Selina McMahon trans comedian, Anglican priest and witty raconteur.

🟑 Statement of Solidarity 🟑

Also this week 4ZZZ signed a Statement of Solidarity with the Trans Justice Project aligning with the trans community who are right now under attack. Both in so-called-Australia and globally, anti-trans lobbyists are working to attack trans rights, safety, and access to healthcare.

Currently, we are seeing a rise in anti-trans disinformation which is being platformed by mainstream media as well as a rapid escalation in anti-trans hate crimes, including a number of new organisations forming with the express purpose of attacking the rights and freedoms of trans people.

That’s why, during Transgender Awareness Week, 4ZZZ is taking a stand by signing this Statement of Solidarity in support of our trans community and so should you.

If you or an organisation would like to sign this statement please click here

Ez from Tranzmission interviewed Jackie Turner from Trans Justice Project this week all about it, click here if you’d like to listen back.

🌈 Rainbow Research Fellowship Winner - Dr Heather Anderson 🌈

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to one of our own Dr. Heather Anderson who is the recipient of the 2024 Rainbow Research Fellowship for her project amplifying the history of women, trans and non-binary people in community radio.

The Rainbow Research Fellowship supports research, exploration, and creation of new knowledge about Queensland’s LGBTIQA+ histories and communities using the John Oxley Library and State Library collections and resources.

The fellowship, first of its kind in Queensland and potentially Australia, supports a more inclusive telling of Queensland history.

πŸ₯ AOTW | Perve Endings - Better Than I Have Been πŸ₯

From the AOTW Committee - "Locals Perve Endings have long featured on 4ZZZ playlists. It's exciting to feature this latest release from them - 'Better Than I Have Been'. It's a lighter in the air slice of alternative pop that 90s kids will devour. Single '20 Something' has already been in high rotation, we expect you'll enjoy the rest of the EP just as much."

Recorded at Airlock Studios in 2022, and produced with Cody McWaters, Better Than I Have Been is a collection of personal songs from the band spanning from themes of love, to imposter syndrome, to disdain for misogyny.
